We purchased the DrinkMate Home Carbonization System to test out in our kitchen and the reviews made it easier for our customers to decide on a home soda maker. Carbonated water or soda water has been in vogue lately, so it's no surprise that devices like the DrinkMate Home Carbonization System are in high demand.

Homemade soft drink makers allow users to carbonate their drinks, but most models can only carbonate water. However, DrinkMate has once claimed to customers that their Home Carbonization System can carbonate cold water, juice, iced tea or coffee, energy drinks, wine, cocktails, and even soda flat form. We wanted to try making a few drinks to see if the gadget was as useful as it sounded. So we conducted experiments with various ways to test the claims of the Drinkmate brand. 

Versatile performance 

The Drinkmate Soda Maker kit comes with a DrinkMate desktop, a reusable BPA-free 1-liter bottle, and a 10-liter CO2 starter cylinder. Normally Drinkmate CO2 uses a 60L CO2 cylinder and it can carbonate up to 60 liters of water so we prepared a full-size canister after using a small starter. We used the 10L cylinder which is faster than the 60L cylinder. All DrinkMate machines are compatible with any 60L CO2 tank on the market.

We found that the DrinkMate itself is quite tall, sleek, and simple and that it doesn't need batteries or electricity to function. DrinkMate's bottle snaps into place and, unlike some soft drink manufacturers, shows that it's locked to prevent any spills. The bottle rests at an angle, and the user can push it back to initiate the carbonation process. We have repeatedly pressed a button on the top of the machine to reach the desired level of carbonization.

The instructions say we need to flush the bottle when the machine makes a hissing sound, but we didn't find this particularly effective. During the first few tries, John, who directly conducted the test, pressed and held the button two or three times, only to find the carbonate levels in our drinks were very low. It's hard to judge the quality of the finished product, but after some testing, we were able to make the water more translucent with larger bubbles.

No elbow grease needed to set up

DrinkMate was ready for us to use right out of the box. The only setup the user needs to do is screw the CO2 cartridge into the back of the machine and fill the bottle with water, then slide it into place. Just like that, Drinkmate Spritzer is ready to start creating carbonated drinks.

Drinkmate Soda Maker makes get-togethers more fun

The DrinkMate soda maker comes with a pressure relief valve so that the user can use it after the carbonation process is complete. To operate it, you need to click the bottle out of the machine and press a small blue button to release the pressure and open the cap. It's a small extra step for the Drinkmate Soda Maker, but when compared to other popular soda makers that automatically release pressure, this seems a bit inconvenient.

The most unique thing about Drinkmate Sparkling Water And Soda Maker is that this appliance can hold more than water due to its pressure relief valve. If the user tries to carbonate the juice or wine in a standard carbonated, it will cause a big mess because the carbonate level is too high, and it may also damage the Drinkmate Spritzer and void the warranty. All we can say is that having the option of more carbonation than water with DrinkMate is a big differentiator from other competitors.
