Ecovac DEEBOT OZMO T8 AIVI - 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum And Mop With Excellent Battery Life
Design and Setup
The Ozmo T8 AIVI is beautifully designed with a matte black finish. The Ecovacs DEEBOT measures about 13.5 inches in diameter and 3.6 inches high and is one of the larger floor cleaning robots we tested but is still short enough to fit most furniture.
Ecovac DEEBOT OZMO T8 AIVI boasts a number of sensors for mapping and navigation, including the TrueMapping Distance sensor above, the aforementioned AIVI image detection sensor at the front, anti-collision sensor on the sides, and carpet detection sensors plus six anti-drop sensors on the bottom. To recognize things that can get in the way of the robot-like wires and socks, and build a database of objects to avoid, AIVI technology uses an artificial intelligence chipset and a camera that helps Ecovacs T8 day works better over time.
To get started, we removed the Ozmo's protective film, installed the side brushes, plugged the docking station into the wall, manually placed the robot on the dock, and powered it on. Ecovacs recommends that users place the dock 1.64 feet away from objects on either side and 4.94 feet away from anything.
In the box, we get an extra set of side brushes and an additional filter. We don't have a remote, but we can control the Ozmo through the Ecovacs Home app available for Android and iOS, Amazon Alexa, or Google Assistant. Setting up DEEBOT Ecovacs to work with the app is simple. We scanned the QR Code on the robot or some people manually selected our model from the list, then we followed the on-screen instructions to connect the robot to Wi-Fi.
Setting up the Ozmo T8 AIVI to work with Alexa and the Google Assistant is quick and easy. For the former, we simply activated the Ecovacs Deebot skill in the Alexa app, logged into our Ecovacs account, and selected the robot we wanted to voice control. Once we had them connected, one member tried saying, “Alexa, ask Deebot to return to its charging dock,” and the robot followed the command and went right there. Then he said, “Alexa, ask Deebot to start cleaning,” and the robot came back to life. Ecovacs DEEBOT T8 AIVI also works well with the Google Assistant, allowing us to start and stop cleaning with just our voice.

App Features
From the Ecovacs Home app, users can start, pause and stop cleaning jobs as well as set cleaning schedules. When active, Ecovacs DEEBOT T8 AIVI will create a map of your home in the app, showing its exact cleaning path for each job. Users can also view the square footage that DEEBOT Ecovacs has covered as well as the time it spends cleaning and its remaining battery life. This useful app keeps a log of the Ecovacs T8's cleaning history so users can know exactly when it last vacuumed and mopped, where it was covered, and how many obstacles it avoided.
There's also an Advanced Mode in the app that allows users to set virtual boundaries for the robot to avoid and select specific areas and rooms they want to clean. For a house with multiple floors, users can also enable the Multi-Story Map feature to generate a map of each floor.
Finally, a very interesting Video Butler feature that allows users to remotely monitor their home on demand is like a portable home security camera. We can use the arrows in the app to move the robot around the house as we watch a live video stream from the robot's camera. We used this feature to ask the robot to play the voice messages we recorded. Admittedly, our test team members spent way too much time using Video Manager to track a dog in the test room. We think it can also be useful if users want to check if they have left the door open or plugged in the iron.
Who is Ecovac DEEBOT OZMO T8 AIVI suitable for?
