Advantages of Monoprice MP Mini Delta 3D Printer

Modern design

The first thing that caught our eye was the delta form of the 3D printer. While there are other items that may be cheaper, their design is not as neat and modern as Monoprice's printer. The defining feature of this Delta printer is the circular print bed and the hanging extruder held up by three triangular "arms" directly above the print bed. We think it was this design that inspired the name Delta. For those of you who are using this 3D printer for the first time, you can search how to set up Monoprice MP Mini Delta 3D printer on Youtube or various sites. And the company also includes the Monoprice MP Mini Delta 3D Printer manual in the box when you buy the device. It is detailed and easy to follow, even for inexperienced people.

All in all, Mini Delta printers are designed for fast print speeds. However, the construction may cause some limitations on the device's printability, in our opinion. As the mini name suggests, the build space of this printer is only 110 x 120mm, suitable for miniatures. But then again, we insist that their print is still as sharp and precise as the prototype.

Fully assembled and ready for 3D printing out of the box

There is a term many 3D printer manufacturers use to advertise their printers as "ready for using out of the box." The fact is that not all of them can work as true as they say. When choosing the Monoprice Delta printer, we were also quite confused about this. However, this best home 3D printer for miniatures is ready to serve us right after the setup is done. Specifically, after unpacking it, we plugged it in and it was ready to go, we hadn't even calibrated it. This is what makes us appreciate it more.

Auto-leveling feature

The compact design of the Monoprice MP Mini Delta 3D Printer is an advantage because you can easily take it anywhere you want. But this can be rendered useless if you frequently have to manually flatten the print bed each time you move the device. Don't worry, the mini Delta is designed with automatic leveling and continuous calibration in mind, which means you never have to struggle with bed leveling again. Once the leveling is done, you will be able to create beautiful toys and models. Not to mention, both the circular print bed and thermal extrusion nozzles heat to different temperature ranges, this allows you to print with different materials.

Printing speed & Resolution

As mentioned above, Monoprice's 3D printer is designed with a pretty fast print speed, up to 150mm/sec. After much testing with 3D printers, we realized that it's not always speed that determines quality, but also resolution. With 50-micron layer resolution, the Monoprice MP Mini Delta 3D Printer is capable of producing overall quality prints.

How we tested

We printed over 15 testing subjects using the Monoprice MP Mini Delta 3D Printer and it consistently produced decent to good quality. There were some cases where the filament came out of the filament holder but we fixed this right away and it didn't cause any major problems. We performed test subjects at various resolutions from normal to high to compare the 3D printing quality, but the difference between them was minimal.

As an open-frame 3D printer, Monoprice allows us to easily monitor the printing process and avoid the potential dangers of accidentally touching a hot extruder's nozzle. If you do the process with small children nearby, you must be extremely careful. We always keep the machine in a well-ventilated space and out of reach of small children because they may be curious and touch the machine while it is running. When the printer melts the filament, it emits fumes but has no smell because we use PLA printing material. Another thing is noise. When we utilized the printer, we stood about 3 feet away from the machine and only heard it quite softly. This did not distract us or disturb our sleep, too.

The Monoprice Mini Delta has a convenient handle, and we easily carried it from our living room to the home office. We love this best budget home 3D printer since it is cheap, easy to set up and operate. In the 15+ prints we made, we encountered only one misprint, but the error is inevitable. If we had watched more carefully, perhaps the results would have been more perfect.
