How did I use Zojirushi Stainless Steel Rice Cooker?
I have been using Zojirushi Stainless Steel Rice Cooker for about 7 months. I vacated the Zojirushi Small Rice Cooker for over a year before I bought it - not only because the price scared me, but also because I wanted to see if anything new and even a better version came out. However, when I read the reviews of the Zojirushi Induction Rice Cooker, I thought it was time for me to bite the bullet and pocket this rice cooker.
This is possibly the best purchase I've made in the last few years because I got it for about $30 less through the auction site everyone is familiar with, but the Japanese price Rice Cooker Zojirushi on Amazon is pretty competitive. Since I was alone most of the year and wanted something that could handle smaller batches I opted for the 3 cups and at least 1/2 cup model to cook for myself but still have the flexibility to handle larger numbers. This size of Zojirushi Induction Heating Rice Cooker & Warmer is perfect for a household of 1-4 people as 3 cups of cooked rice is roughly equal to 6 servings. I cooked a lot of varieties: Japanese short-grain rice, short-grain brown rice, rice, and azuki beans, and mixed-grain rice - a mix of brown and wild rice varieties, with many different combinations in many months I had it. I used Zojirushi Small Rice Cooker pretty much every evening for rice and almost every morning. Users will also get a cookbook in the Zojirushi Stainless Steel Rice Cooker to help them fine-tune their ratios, but I find that oatmeal works best if you use the water/oatmeal ratio 1.5:1, then stir 1/2 c. whole milk after cooking is complete and let it "warm" for an additional 5 minutes.
Like the other reviewer mentioned if the user adds a flavor there will be a hint of that flavor the next time, you make plain rice. My case was cinnamon/vanilla for oatmeal. I don't mind too much, and I suppose you can run a small batch (1/2 c.) if you are VERY sensitive to any kind of flavor.
The rice comes out so perfectly that users will be amazed at how many flavors this little machine creates from white and brown rice. I have never been a huge fan of brown rice because it's too doughy or chewy but when I made this with the bad boy, it was delicious. You will be the next to be convinced by Zojirushi Induction Rice Cooker.
My favorite thing about Zojirushi Induction Rice Cooker
My favorite part of Zojirushi Induction Heating Rice Cooker & Warmer is cleaning. If a regular rice cooker is too hard to clean, I know it will end up with dust - but Zojirushi Small Rice Cooker couldn't be easier. There is a removable inner lid of the Zojirushi Stainless Steel Rice Cooker that catches water splashing out of the cooking rice, which I rinse immediately and I remove the steam cap at the back. This sounds complicated but it sure took two things apart and took about 3 seconds and I found the manual very good for explaining it. After that, the non-stick bowl was practically dry and I could easily wipe off the "rice paper" film I made with a paper towel. Even with the oatmeal that I usually bake there: no soaking, no scrubbing, just waiting to dry. A couple of times it got stuck and I just filled the sink with warm water for 15 minutes and it rinsed off immediately. The Zojirushi Induction Rice Cooker's non-stick bowl is amazing. I'm very careful never to let anything metal come into contact with this bowl, but I've heard people say that Zojirushi is great at shipping replacement parts if you need them.
